‘Greenham Remembered’: Saturday 26th Oct 2019, Newport Campus

USW's Centre for Gender Studies in Wales in conjunction with 'Our Chartist Heritage Women’s History Group' will host an afternoon seminar titled ‘Greenham Remembered’ on Saturday 26th Oct 2019, 13:30 to 16:30, in C29 at City Campus.

Did you know that a group of women, organised by Ann Pettit, walked from Cardiff to Greenham Common in Berkshire in August 1981? Their collective response to the siting of American cruise missiles at an air base on British soil was the start of a female solidarity movement that would reach far and wide. A new women's peace movement commencing with the WOMEN FOR LIFE ON EARTH march was born and sustained at GREENHAM COMMON PEACE CAMP. Join us and our speakers (including Professor Madeleine Gray and Councillor Sue Lent) for what promises to be a wonderful event to find out more and / or share your memories of Greenham.

Free tickets via Eventbrite.
